If you’re a regular on-site, you know (and love) our staff member Brigid. Brigid is a one-of-a-kind Construction Crew leader dedicated to making the construction site a fun, safe, and rewarding place for volunteers and is known for being generous with her hugs. Her energy is contagious, even on those early construction mornings. As an AmeriCorps alumna and skilled leader, Brigid plays a key role in helping Beaches Habitat achieve our mission through new construction and repair projects.

Born and raised in Jacksonville, Brigid has a strong sense of pride in her community. After attending Clay High School, she graduated from Flagler College with a liberal arts degree. Then Brigid left the First Coast briefly to serve with the Habitat for Humanity AmeriCorps program in Washington D.C. Despite falling in love with the Mid-Atlantic, her heart belonged to Florida, and she accepted a construction position with Beaches Habitat. She spent six years with our organization before taking her talents to Care Connect+, a non-profit organization that connects St. Augustine families to the resources they need.

After leaving Beaches Habitat, Brigid continued to volunteer on the construction site, staying connected with the volunteers she loves. During her time with Care Connect+, she saw firsthand the impact the affordable housing crisis was having on local children and families. Coupled with missing the atmosphere of the Beaches Habitat construction site, Brigid felt called to return to building homes. In June, we were lucky to welcome her back as a full-time member of our staff!

Brigid’s personal philosophy has always been simple – “help people”. She has dedicated her life and career to serving those around her and making others smile. Her passion for service originates from her family, whom she loves dearly. Outside of work, Brigid enjoys playing pickleball, spending time with her dog, Teddy, and being hands-on with a craft or project. You can often find her winning a game of pickup basketball or grilling out with her friends and family!
