In 2015, Jazzmin Crowder’s world changed. That year, her mom qualified for a Beaches Habitat home. A year later, Jazzmin, her mom, and her brother moved from the apartment they shared into a place that they could finally call home. Jazzmin was excited and grateful for their new home, a place where they now celebrate birthdays and spend time together.

After moving into OceanGate, a Beaches Habitat community on Mayport Road, Jazzmin’s life improved in countless ways. She developed new friendships, attended great schools, secured an excellent job during high school, and enrolled in college. Living in a supportive environment surrounded by amazing people has enriched her life significantly.

Jazzmin started working at 16, gaining valuable experience at the Panera Bread near her home. This job helped her strengthen her social and team management skills, and she advanced to the position of Team Lead within two years, enjoying every minute of it. One of the most monumental experiences came in her senior year of high school when she had the opportunity to be the secretary for Beaches Habitat’s Prep Club Club. She and her peers in the club assisted the homeless and others in need, making a meaningful impact in the community.

After graduating high school with a 3.8 GPA, Jazzmin, now 18 years old, is studying Social Work at UNF thanks to the support of the Scheidel Foundation. Jazzmin is incredibly grateful for the life she has today, supported by her family, friends, and Beaches Habitat.
